It is multifactorial: Oily skin, Clogged pores, Bacterial infection, Hormonal imbalance, Stress, Unhealthy food habits, Cosmetics used and Certain medications.
Healthy balanced diet is important and Avoid food with high glycemic index, dairy products as in some it can worsen the acne.
Normally twice in a day is enough as excessive cleaning can worsen the acne.
Can be hormonal if in females other signs of PCOD are there e.g. irregular periods weight gain coarse hair on upper lips, chin, chest area
Depends on your skin type. If oily skin or active acne, one can use face wash containing 1–2% Salicylic Acid. If skin is normal or dry – use gentle cleansers.
Ideally avoid them as they can cause irritation and can make skin more sensitive.
1) Cleaning the face:
Normal to dry skin – gentle hydrating cleanser
Oily skin – foaming or salicylic acid–based cleanser.
2) Moisturising the Face
Dry skin – Cream-based cleanser & moisturizer
Oily skin – Gel-based moisturizer
Sensitive skin – Ceramide-based moisturizer.
3) Treatment-Based Routine
► Anti-ageing
Retinol in dilute form with moisturizer
Initially thrice a week, then gradually daily
► Pigmentation
Creams containing:
Azelaic acid
Kojic acid
Niacinamide.
4) For Under-Eye Lines & Puffiness
Hyaluronic acid
Retinol in dilution with moisturizer.
5) For Dry Lips
Lip balm with:
White petroleum jelly
